Rangers academy chief Stephen Wright is set to join Dundee in a blow for the Premiership giants, according to the Courier

The regional newspaper report that the Dark Blues have managed to poach Wright from Ibrox, where he has been working as Head of the Intermediate Academy.

The Courier claim that senior man Wright has served his notice to Rangers and is set to take up his post as Head of Youth at Dundee next month.

OPINION

While many may not be aware of Wright’s position and standing at Rangers, this is a real blow for the Premiership giants. Wright has been building a reputation as one of the finest youth coaches in Scotland, with his work at Rangers testament to that. He has been instrumental in many of the recent changes that have taken place behind the scenes in the Rangers youth set-up, which have yielded some impressive results in terms of player development. Leaving Rangers for Dundee is a bold move, but his new role as Head of Youth at Dens Park is a step up in responsibility, and you can therefore understand why he has taken the decision to leave. Rangers will be disappointed to lose such a highly-regarded coach, but they will no doubt have names in mind already to replace him. The Rangers youth set-up has been going from strength to strength recently, and that is unlikely to stop because of this loss.
