Manager Nigel Adkins has confirmed that Hull City are interested in a loan deal for Celtic winger Lewis Morgan this month.

The 22-year-old ace has made just 13 appearances for the Hoops this season since completing his move from St. Mirren in the summer, with first-team chances looking few and far between for the Scotland youth international.

Championship side Hull have been one of the clubs linked with a move this month and Adkins has now confirmed that the Tigers would be interested in a loan agreement.

As quoted by the Scottish Sun, he said: “We’ve had a look at a lot of players in England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland and obviously Lewis is one. Celtic have brought two or three players in forward-wise.

“He’s a young lad and did really well at his previous club but that wasn’t in the top level of Scottish football. Young lad, dynamic winger, he’s exciting to watch. Will that happen with us, will that happen with another football club?

“I’m sure his agent’s going to be working very hard to get him somewhere.”

Good move for Celtic?

Absolutely.

Morgan is a talented young player, there is no doubt about that, but the chances of him playing much in the coming months look extremely low.

He has been forced to settle for minutes off the bench so far, and with more players arriving in the January window, his chances are decreasing even further.

A loan move away looks to be the best option for both club and player, with Morgan in need of minutes to continue his development, and Hull would be a solid destination with the Tigers aiming for the play-offs.

Likely to happen?

It looks like the Tigers are certainly interested in a deal, but whether they will be Morgan’s destination this month is not clear.

There will be several other clubs weighing up a move, and it could come down to player preference where he ends up.
