BT Sport reporter and broadcast host Darrell Currie has suggested that anyone who wants Celtic’s James Forrest should bid around £20million for his services as speculation links the winger with a move to Liverpool.

The Scottish Sun has reported that the Premier League giants are eyeing up the Hoops and Scotland star for a move this month, Jurgen Klopp said to have put an £8million valuation on his head.

Left stunned by the idea of Forrest swapping Celtic Park for Anfield, Currie stated that the attacker wants to remain with the Bhoys and that Liverpool should be looking to double their initial expected bid.

He wrote on his personal Twitter account: “Remarkable this. 1st of all – he wants to stay at Celtic… 2nd – if someone was bidding they should probably start at £20M!”

Opinion

Calm down Darrell. Yes, Forrest has been a sensational talent for Celtic over the past couple of years, taking his game to the next level this season, but a price tag of £20million for a 27-year-old who is only proven on the Scottish and Europa League stage? That is just ridiculous – even with the sort of money that Liverpool might have at their disposal. He is not a hot prospect with a bright future ahead of him – he is a player at the peak of his abilities and as such no team is going to accept a highly inflated price tag for his sale. The other thing is what on earth are Liverpool doing looking at Forrest to bolster their side? He is probably a decent Premier League quality player but the Reds are on a whole different level entirely and Forrest would find game time incredibly difficult to come by if he were to make the move.
