Celtic hope to finalise the signing of 22-year-old forward Vakoun Issouf Bayo within the next 72 hours as they’re set to present their case on Tuesday about why he should be given a work permit, according to the Scottish Sun.

The national newspaper claim that the Hoops chiefs were successful with a similar work permit application previously for Eboue Kouassi and that with Bayo having more experience they think he will fit the criteria of rising star in order to get one.

The Scottish Sun report that the forward who Celtic spent £2million on signing has passed his medical but can’t formally complete his switch until a work permit is sorted.

OPINION

Based on the Scottish Sun, Celtic have their case already to be argued and seem to be confident based on their previous experience regarding Koussai. Hopefully the proceedings go without a snag and the Hoops are right to be not overly sweating on securing Bayo a work permit as after splashing a little cash on him, they won’t want anything blocking him from featuring. The Hoops previously confirmed on the 8th of January via their official website that they had reached an agreement with Slovakian side Dunajská Stred about Bayo, so they are moving fast to tick all the boxes regarding the player. The 22-year-old has scored 18 goals in 23 outings in his 2018/19 campaign so if he can replicate that form in Scotland then Brendan Rodgers will be very happy that the attacker has been signed. The only question mark about Bayo is whether he can be as prolific for Celtic as he was for Dunjaska Stred this season as given the difference in the quality between the leagues and it no guarantee that he can settle at the Hoops, only time will tell if he is a worthy signing.
