Dunajska Streda forward Vakoun Issouf Bayo is due to jet in to Scotland to meet Brendan Rodgers ahead of a potential move to Celtic, according to the Daily Star.

The newspaper claim that the 21-year-old hitman who has scored 18 goals in 23 outings this season is set to be shown around Celtic Park and Lennoxtown, if a deal can’t be agreed before the end of the week.

The Daily Star claim that Celtic are hopeful to seal a deal for Bayo by Friday despite them only bidding £1.75million when Dunjaska Streda want £2.3million.

Good move for Celtic?

Yes, a very good one potentially.

Rodgers needs to boost Celtic’s firepower and purchasing a young forward in red-hot form could certainly meet that requirement. Also given his goal ratio this season and his potential price-tag, this seems like a smart swoop for the Hoops which could work out well from all angles. After disappointingly losing to Rangers, Rodgers knows he has to act fast to bring in reinforcements  in January and given that the player is due to jet in to Celtic, it seems like this move would be good as it could be  easy to wrap up.

Likely to happen?

Yes, very much so.

Regardless of the fact that the two clubs haven’t come to terms on a price for Bayo yet, this deal looks very likely to happen. The 21-year-old wouldn’t have a trip scheduled to Scotland if this move wasn’t definitely on the cards and all the signs are looking good.

The only issue to a potential deal is that the Daily Star also pointed out that Austrian outfit Rapid Vienna and Turkish giants Galatasaray are both in the race to sign Bayo, so they could pose a problem if the Hoops are hesitant to meet the attacker’s asking price.
