Rangers are not interested in signing Derby midfielder Craig Bryson, according to Four Lads Had a Dream.

The fan blog, which is a super-reliable source of information at Ibrox, claimed via their Twitter account that the Gers have denied interest in the 32-year-old, despite the Daily Record saying that the club is negotiating a deal to sign him.

It was reported that Rangers are trying to sign Bryson on a free transfer this month with his deal expiring at the end of the season.

However according to this latest twist, Steven Gerrard is unlikely to be adding yet another central midfielder to his side.

OPINION

Rangers fans should be breathing a sigh of relief about this news. Gerrard does not need another central midfielder added to his side, especially since Steven Davis was signed from Southampton and Glen Kamara could also be arriving at Ibrox sooner than scheduled. Bryson is not a terrible player but he is no better than what the Gers already have. The 5ft 7 (transfermarkt) player has been playing regularly for Derby in the Championship this term, appearing 18 times in the league for Frank Lampard’s side. He has lost his place in the last two league matches though, which suggests that Lampard might be trying to get rid of Pride Park’s longest-serving player. Where he will end up is anyone’s guess based on this new twist. It clearly won’t be Ibrox, but there is a chance that the former Kilmarnock ace could return to the Scottish Premiership. Maybe a return to Rugby Park is on the cards?
