Rangers must make a swoop to sign Midtjylland forward Paul Onuachu in the January transfer window after it was reported that the giant target man could be on the move this month.

Nigerian news outlet Football Live reported in December that Onuachu, 24, is edging closer towards leaving the Danish giants and that there is an agreement in place with him, his agent and Midtjylland’s managing director for him to be sold before the season is over.

Onuachu has been in stellar form for Midtjylland this term.

The 6ft 7 (transfermarkt) colossus has scored 14 goals in 25 appearances across all competitions for his side.

It is no fluke that Onuachu is scoring regularly the Danish top-flight side as last season he hit the back of the net 17 times in 32 outings and the season before that he scored 23 in 45 total games.

Rangers could really do with some extra firepower in their attack this month, especially as the Express has reported that Umar Sadiq could have his loan deal terminated early.

That will leave Alfredo Morelos and Kyle Lafferty as Steven Gerrard’s only striker options, and with Morelos poor disciplinary record and Lafferty’s lack of consistent form, Onuachu could provide a third striker option for years to come.

The Nigerian-born striker is only 24-years-old, so there is still room for him to improve.

His height means that he is a problem for any defender to deal with, and just imagine a 6ft 7 striker getting on the end of James Tavernier and Daniel Candeias’ balls into the box.

It could be a masterstroke by Rangers if they were to sign Onuachu this month, and Gerrard has to try and get a deal in place as soon as possible because it does seem as though a move is on the cards for the target man.
