Steven Gerrard could make as many as 10 changes to his starting line-up ahead of Rangers’ Scottish Cup clash against Cowdenbeath at Central Park on Friday night.

The Light Blues will be returning to action for the first time since beating Celtic 1-0 at Ibrox at the end of December, and Ross McCorie could be the only player who started that game to remain in the line-up for this week.

January signing Steven Davis could also be handed a second debut for Rangers after sealing a loan switch from Southampton earlier this month.

Wes Foderingham is expected to start in goals behind a back-four of Jon Flanagan, Nikola Katic, Gareth McAuley and Lee Wallace.

McCrorie is likely to sit at the base of the midfield with Jordan Rossiter and Davis ahead of him.

Glenn Middleton and Eros Grezda could return to the side to start on the wings and Kyle Lafferty might get the nod to start up front.

Rangers face a testing trip to Rugby Park to play against high-flying Kilmarnock on Wednesday night, so Gerrard is likely to name a team that excludes many of his key players.

Cowdenbeath are currently fifth in Scotland’s League Two, so Gerrard could see this Scottish Cup clash as a chance to field some of his fringe players and keep his regular starters for next week’s trip to Ayrshire.
