Wolverhampton Wanderers have launched talks with Atletico Madrid over a permanent deal for loan star Jonny after his impressive first half a season in England, according to Mundo Deportivo.

The Spanish publication claim on their website that those at Molineux have been impressed with what they have seen from the 24-year-old, with 21 appearances, a goal and an assist for the Spaniard across all competitions, and have initiated talks with his parent side over turning his temporary stay permanent.

It is stated that Atletico are not looking to sell Jonny and have rebuffed the initial offer, with the report stating that the club have slapped a mega-money price tag on his head and that the only way he would be allowed to leave is if someone meets the “exorbitant” fee.

Good move for Wolves?

An outstanding move for Wolves – so long as the price is right.

Jonny has been a stand out performer for Nuno Espirito Santo’s men this season and it is no surprise Wolves want him tied down as one of their own for the foreseeable future.

His performances down the wing from full back have caused plenty of defences problems and the fact he is just as impressive at the back as he is when pushing forward makes him a real asset to the club.

A big money price tag might not phase Wolves but they have to be wary of whether he is worth what Atletico are asking for.

Either way, the Molineux faithful should be impressed with their side’s ambitions this month.

Likely to happen/

It does not appear as though he will be turning his move permanent this month and whether he will be allowed to leave in the summer remains to be seen.

Atletico bought him for a reason and that was not to head out on loan only to be sold a year later.

He is in their long term plans and his performances in England will have impressed his parent club as well as those at Molineux, hindering Wolves’ hopes of a deal being completed.
