COMMENTARY
There is no doubting that Wolves defender Matt Doherty has been one of the club’s best performers this season but there was nowhere for the full back to hide in the first half against Manchester City at the Etihad. He was torn to pieces by City winger Leroy Sane and the fans made sure to let him know exactly what they thought of his performance, tearing him apart just like the German flyer did time after time, including for the home side’s opening goal. It was not just Doherty’s fault that City were all over him – he could have done with some support from his midfielders for example – but there was definitely more quality expected from him. This is one small blip against one of the best sides in the country and so he can probably be forgiven. If this was how is was to perform against someone like Cardiff or Huddersfield then maybe there could be some worries from the fans.
