Celtic are expected to tie up a deal to sign Wolves defender Dominic Iorfa on a pre-contract agreement, according to the Daily Mirror.

The newspaper’s live transfer blog (Monday January 21st, 11:50am) claimed that the 6ft 2in tall right-back (Source: Transfermarkt) is free to leave Wolves with his contract up in the summer and that the Hoops are close to sealing a deal as a result.

The Daily Mirror report that if Celtic do end up completing the deal for Iorfa he will arrived in the summer when his Wolves deal runs out.

Good move for Celtic?

Yes.

Brendan Rodgers’ side has been short of full-backs for a while so signing one in the form of Iorfa is a smart move.

The 23-year-old flyer hasn’t featured for Wolves in the Premier League this season and it’s clear that he needs to leave the English club to get his career back on track.

Given that Iorfa can play as a right-back, centre-back or right-sided midfielder then Rodgers will have options on how to use him and that can be only seen as good thing.

Also with him being signed upon his contract expiring, there’s low risk to this deal backfiring for Celtic.

Likely to happen?

Very much so.

Based on the Mirror’s report it seems barring a late spanner in the works, Iorfa is Celtic bound, however until the ink is dry on his potential contract then you can never be 100% sure.

Yet this report is very promising and it may just be case of waiting for official confirmation from any of the parties involved.
