Cameron Carter-Vickers is set to stay on loan at Swansea after an injury to Joe Rodon, according to the Sun’s transfer expert Alan Nixon.

Nixon made the claim on his personal Twitter page on Monday morning.

It had been reported yesterday that Wigan were leading the chase for the Tottenham 21-year-old, with Tottenham said to be ready to recall him from his loan move.

However, the injury to Rodon has changed the complexion of his move and it looks like Wigan will miss out on the 6ft powerhouse.

OPINION

Carter-Vickers has only made 12 Championship appearances and only started six of these, and that looked set to be the reason for Tottenham cutting his loan spell short. They want regular game-time for the youngster but that could be on the cards after first-team regular Rodon was injured. Rodon has played 23 Championship games for Swansea but he is reported to be out for six weeks with an injury he sustained over the weekend. That will open the door for Carter-Vickers to claim a first-team place, although it doesn’t really guarantee what will happen when Rodon returns. Carter-Vickers has a lot of promise and it would obviously be in his interest to be with a club where he’s going to be a first-choice centre-back. If that’s Swansea, who are battling for the play-off places in the Championship, that would be good, but Spurs need to try and get assurances for the rest of the season. If he’s going to be dumped back to the bench when Rodon returns then surely they’re better off finding him a move elsewhere?
