Manuel Pellegrini hopes that West Ham midfielder Manuel Lanzini will be back in action for the Hammers in a month.

The Argentine has been out since June with a ruptured cruciate ligament, but returned to light training recently, as reported by Sky Sports.

Speaking in his press conference ahead of the Irons’ clash with Wolves on Tuesday night, as quoted by Football.London, Pellegrini, suggested that the 25-year-old could be available to make an appearance in the near future.

He said: “We hope that Lanzini could be back in one month more for the team.”

OPINION

Having Lanzini back would be like having a new signing for West Ham. The Argentine really hit his stride for the Hammers before his injury, and they will hope that he can pick up where he left off when he does come back into the side. The Irons look like a much better attacking proposition this season, and with Marko Arnautovic set to stick around until the end of the season at least, and with Felipe Anderson blossoming into a real threat for them, Lanzini slotting back in to pull the strings is a mouthwatering proposition. Outside of the top six, it’s hard to see anybody who can match West Ham on paper, and with Pellegrini in charge, they could make a serious push for Europe. The return of the Argentine will be a timely boost, and could be a decisive factor in a battle for seventh that promises to go right down to the wire.
