When it rains at Tottenham, it absolutely buckets it down and their run of bad luck has continued once again with Dele Alli finding himself ruled out until March with a hamstring injury.

As if losing Harry Kane and Moussa Sissoko in their defeat to Manchester United was not enough, Mauricio Pochettino now has to make do without his attacking midfield maestro and with Heung-min Son on international duty, his options up top are wearing worryingly thin.

With Kane, Alli, Son and Lucas Moura out of action, it means Spurs are without their top four goal scorers this season and Christian Eriksen must be feeling some serious pressure as number five on that list.

New recruits are an absolute must this month if the Lilywhites want to guarantee success and someone who brings goals is crucial.

Step forward Atlanta United’s Miguel Almiron, the Paraguayan international a certified goal machine with 13 goals and 13 assists in the MLS last season.

He is reported by the Chronicle to be the subject of a bid from Premier League rivals Newcastle United but at a valuation of £23million, he could easily be Spurs’ if they wanted him.

Some might argue he is too similar to Christian Eriksen or Dele Alli but the truth is he is the best of both worlds, with tremendous vision and technique to set his teammates up while also showing the ability to stick the ball in the back of the net himself.

It would give the Tottenham squad a real boost to see someone of his talents arrive and considering the setbacks suffered already this season he would have no trouble getting game time from the off.

Almiron can be Spurs’ saviour this month – Pochettino just needs to clip the Magpies’ wings and get him over the line.
