OPINION
Tottenham strolled to a 3-0 win against Cardiff on New Year’s Day as they bounced straight back from their weekend defeat to Wolves. But a first-half goal blitz and a second-half waltz in Wales was not enough to keep the fans off the back of Davinson Sanchez. The centre-back was named in the starting XI for the third time in four matches but did not convince alongside Toby Alderweireld, who was once again pushed out to the left-sided central defensive slot in the continued absence of Jan Vertonghen. Sanchez is a commanding figure who has the potential to be an outstanding defender, but his propensity for errors, coupled with wonky distribution and lack of composure, means he is not yet ready to replace either of the brilliant Belgians on a permanent basis. Many Spurs followers were unhappy with his display at the Cardiff City Stadium, with comments including “scares me” and “disaster”.

Big Sanchez gives me nightmares when he is on the ball, he looks so nervous, Trippier still a liability, apart from that all's well with the world #COYS
