Tottenham Hotspur could replace midfielder Mousa Dembele this month after he sealed a move to Guangzhou R&F, according to the Evening Standard

The newspaper report however that such a move would only happen if Spurs manage to offload unwanted duo Vincent Janssen and Georges-Kevin N’Koudou in the coming days.

The Standard claim that Tottenham received a fee of £9million for the 31-year-old Belgium international, with that money potentially to be reinvested in another midfielder.

Good move for Spurs?

Yes, obviously.

Spurs have just let one of their best players leave the club, although admittedly injuries have really taken their toll on the midfield enforcer in recent seasons.

If the club want to maintain their challenge in four competitions this season, then bringing in a replacement is absolutely key in the coming weeks.

Their strength in depth in midfield is lacking at the moment, with injuries again affecting their options, and a new face in that area would be a sensible move.

Likely to happen?

It looks like a swoop for a replacement depends on whether N’Koudou and Janssen are still at the club at the end of the month.

Should the club manage to offload both players then there will be space for someone else to be brought in, otherwise they will likely turn to youth players such as Oliver Skipp to fill the void.
