Graham Roberts has slammed the comments of Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville, who dismissed Tottenham’s title credentials on a night when Man City beat Liverpool to move within four points of the league leaders.

Tottenham are two points behind City and six off Liverpool at the top but Neville said it’s a two-horse race.

Roberts took to his personal Twitter account to take issue with the comments, saying he was “disappointed” with Neville.

“Six pointe behind we have a chance, in fact a better chance than your ex club Man Utd 16 points behind. Think you struggling for Champions League place COYS”.

OPINION

Of course Tottenham are still in the title race. Last month saw a 12-point swing between Liverpool and Man City, before Pep Guardiola’s men got themselves back in the hunt with a win last night. However, it’s a long shot. As good as Tottenham have been this season, and they’ve been immense, Liverpool and Man City are operating on a higher level at the moment. If Tottenham are going to win the league they’re going to probably have to beat both Liverpool and Man City when they play them in March and April this year. That’s a big ask but it’s not impossible. Liverpool could buckle under the pressure of being top and Spurs could take advantage. When you live in a world where Leicester won the Premier League, you can’t write Mauricio Pochettino’s men out of the hunt for this year’s trophy quite yet. That loss against Wolves is looking even more painful now though.
