Tottenham striker Vincent Janssen is hoping to be rescued by London rivals West Ham, according to the Sun.

The newspaper claim the frozen-out Holland international is “keeping his fingers crossed” that the Hammers and Crystal Palace will reignite their interest in him before he joined Spurs for £17million in the summer of 2016.

The Sun report Janssen, 24, could follow Mousa Dembele to the Orient amid “interest from China” after he snubbed a loan move to Spanish outfit Sevilla.

Good move for West Ham?

The Hammers will be in need of a new striker if one or both of Marko Arnautovic and Javier Hernandez quit this month, but they should steer well clear of Janssen. The Dutchman lacks the mobility and technical quality to deliver the goods in the Premier League. West Ham have already got one static line-leader in Andy Carroll. Why would they want another? Mario Husillos and the recruitment team should be focused on sharper front men who can pull centre-backs around, Finding another Arnautovic, who is trying to engineer a January exit, is not easy, but Janssen is certainly not the answer. Even at £12million, the reported asking price, he is far from the answer.

Likely to happen?

West Ham could be interested in a loan move if Arnautovic leaves, but the only winners from that would be the striker and Spurs. Surely, the Hammers will turn to strikers with the potential of ripping it up at the London Stadium, not proven failures.
