Jamie Redknapp raved about the ability of West Ham attacker Felipe Anderson before claiming that perhaps the 25-year-old’s long-term future wasn’t at the club.

The former Liverpool player shared that even in the first game against his former side you could see glimpses of the Brazilian winger’s talent and he was a self-confessed fan of the player.

Redknapp added that while supporters may not like it, he believed Anderson could go on for the Hammers to do well as he was predicting big things for him.

“I’m a massive fan even in the Liverpool game at the start of the season you could see little glimpses, he’s got a lot of ability, Yarmolenko as well was unlucky with his Achilles, he’s another talented player and Jack as well, the ability they’ve got in this team,” said Redknapp (Sky Sports Main Event, 11:58am, Saturday January 12th).

“Players who can do something with nothing in this team, he is really talented and only 25-years-old as well so impressive, he scores goals and I’m predicting big things for him, no disrespect to West Ham, I’m sure fans won’t like it when I say this but he can go on again as I think he has that ability.”

OPINION

The 25-year-old has proven himself to be one of the stars of Manuel Pellegrini’s revolution at the Hammers this season as he has dazzled more often that not. The experienced manager took over the London club in the summer, no doubt with ambitions to guide it to a top 10 finish, and has clearly put in the groundwork to get that job done. Pellegrini has been helped with the impressive displays of Anderson as he has settled into the Premier League relatively quickly. The left-sided winger has played 24 times, ahead of his side facing Arsenal on Saturday, and has contributed an impressive eight goals to make him the club’s  joint top goalscorer for the season. Hopefully Anderson’s form continues for the Hammers this season as it will prove to be vital in them achieving their lofty ambitions and no doubt supporters will hope that Redknapp is wide of the mark about suggesting the player could move from the club. After just witnessing him arrive in the summer, they won’t want to see him exit so soon.
