Tottenham rookie Troy Parrott was spotted training with the first team as they made final preparations for Thursday’s League Cup showdown against Chelsea.

The striker, 16, has yet to make a senior squad or debut for the club he joined last year but joined international stars as they made their way to the session at the club’s Enfield training headquarters.

Parrott was pictured by the official Spurs Twitter account alongside the likes of Jan Vertonghen, Toby Alderweireld, Harry Winks, Ben Davies, Eric Dier, Serge Aurier and Juan Foyth.

OPINION

Parrott has yet to make his first-team bow at Tottenham but he is a rising star with the potential to make it as an established one. It is a huge achievement that he is training with the senior stars, even in the face of an injury crisis that has deprived Mauricio Pochettino of Dele Alli, Harry Kane and Son Heung-Min for one of Spurs’ biggest matches of the season. Pochettino must decide whether to persist with the rather static presence of Fernando Llorente up front against his side’s bitter rivals in the semi-final second leg or deploy Lucas Moura, who is back in training after overcoming a knee injury, as the spearhead. Could Parrott, who has scored 12 goals in 19 matches for the club’s age-group teams, including nine in just six appearances for the Under-18, force his way into the matchday 18. It is likely he would need to leapfrog Kaziah Sterling, the 20-year-old who was on the sub’s bench against Fulham on Sunday, if he is to get his first call-up.
