Leeds United want a winger before the end of the January transfer window and their number one target is Swansea’s Daniel James.

However, it looks like the clubs are still a way away in terms of valuation, with the Mirror’s David Anderson saying that Leeds were prepared to walk away from the deal.

That was over a week ago and there’s seemingly been no progress since, with just over a week to go before the window shuts.

Leeds are in desperate need of a Plan B and there’s a player who would be perfect and affordable.

Ukraine international Maryan Shved is available and has been offered to Celtic by Karpaty Lviv, who rate the 21-year-old at £2million, according to the Scottish Sun.

That is right in the Leeds ballpark, with Daniel James valued between £3million and £5million, with Swansea holding out for the upper end valuation.

The winger, who broke into the Ukraine team last year, has scored eight goals this season and offers versatility, having been played as a winger and a striker.

He’s young, highly-rated, affordable and available.

The only problem is that Leeds will need to act fast with Celtic said to be in the “final stage” of talks according to Sportarena.

However, the Scottish Sun said Celtic would only proceed with the transfer if they managed to sell players and that hasn’t happened yet. That could give Victor Orta time to hijack the deal and bring Shved to Elland Road.

He’s ready for the first-team and would be a signing with an eye to the Premier League. It’s a no-brainer.
