Scott Sinclair always seems like one of those players who should be brought back to the Premier League. He has the talent to cut it in the top flight after all.

He was tremendous with Swansea City earlier in his career, eventually earning a high profile move to Manchester City and even if that switch did not work out as expected, the fact that City bought him in the first place speaks volumes.

So for a struggling top flight team like Newcastle United he would appear to be the perfect signing. How many times this season has we said that the Magpies have failed to get consistent production from their wingers?

Sinclair would solve that problem in a heartbeat.

He has the pace and the eye for goal to make a difference on the wing for Newcastle. Kenedy has failed to catch fire in his second spell with the club, while Christian Atsu and Jacob Murphy are inconsistent at best.

You know what you’re going to get with Sinclair, though. He knows how to beat his man and he knows how to put the ball in the back of the net. That is absolutely invaluable for a team like Newcastle.

He’s hit 13 goals and bagged six assists this season despite struggling for game time for Brendan Rodgers’s side, showing that he can do a lot with a little, something that would come in handy at St James’ Park.

Given his age – 29 – and the fact that he plays for Celtic, the Magpies should be able to get hold of him for fairly cheap. Mike Ashley doesn’t like spending money, and this would be a perfect way to upgrade the team without wasting millions.

Seems like a win-win, no? Newcastle, for one, would be crazy not to consider Sinclair this month.
