Newcastle United must make a January move for out of favour Shinji Okazaki to ease their goalscoring woes.

According to the Daily Mirror (15.45), Huddersfield Town are interested in the Japanese international, but the Magpies could steal a march on their relegation rivals by completing a deal for the 32-year-old the month.

Okazaki is a tireless worker who has grown frustrated by a lack of opportunity at Leicester City this season, according to Sky Sports, and who would be a fantastic addition to a Toon side that are chronically lacking in goals.

The Premier League winner has slipped down the pecking order at the King Power, but still has a lot to offer, and would be the perfect foil to Salomon Rondon’s robust hold up play.

Okazaki has made just one start in the league this campaign, and will feel that he deserves more given the consistency of his output and effort for the Foxes.

Given his age and lack of chances for Leicester, Okazaki would presumably be affordable, and while he may not represent a long term solution, he could be exact the kind of quick fix needed to give the Magpies a decent shot at avoiding the dreaded drop.
