COMMENTARY
Many Newcastle fans were blown away by defender Florian Lejeune’s display against Cardiff City on Saturday and several made bold claims about him as a result. One suggested that the 27-year-old centre-back was the best player currently at the Magpies, while another stated that the player maybe one of the best defenders they have seen in their lifetime wear the black and white stripes. Given the fact Rafa Benitez’s side won 3-0 against Cardiff on Saturday, it says lot that one fan claimed that Lejeune still managed standout like a sore thumb due to looking so good. Several Magpies players wowed against the Bluebirds and it’s fair to say Lejeune was among them. The centre-back’s display is only made more impressive when you consider he has only just returned to fitness after a serious injury kept him from featuring until recently. Normally a player needs time to get back up to speed, but not Lejeune apparently.
