It is no secret that this current transfer window is an important one for Newcastle United, after all, there are so many positions that need improving as soon as possible.

One of those positions is right-back, where DeAndre Yedlin is essentially the only quality player that Rafa Benitez has at his disposal.

This is why the Magpies must join the race for Atalanta right-back Timothy Castagne, a player who Celtic have been priced out of signing according to the Sun.

It is understood that the Italian outfit have slapped a £10million price tag on his head, which is a fee that Newcastle would be more than able to afford given they have the adequate funds.

United are in desperate need for another right-back, because at the moment, Javier Manquillo is the player who has to be called upon in case of an injury or suspension – and that is a scenario that Benitez will no doubt be wanting to avoid.

Manquillo is by no stretch of the imagination a quality right-back, and he is certainly not at the standard required for top-level football.

However, Castagne is a player who can cope with the demands of top-level action, reinforced by the fact that he recently made his debut for the Belgium national team.

The right-sided flyer is more than capable of adding another dimension to the Newcastle attack, and he is known to play at left-back as well if it were necessary – something which Benitez would be very impressed by.

The manager must now get the fans bouncing by joining the race for the ace, as he would be a perfect signing for Newcastle.
