OPINION
Manchester United may have overcome a stern challenge from Championship side Reading to progress to the fourth round of the FA Cup on Saturday, but that did not stop many fans from criticising the performance of young midfielder Scott McTominay. The 22-year-old starlet was making just his seventh appearance of the season for the Red Devils but really struggled to get a foothold in the game against a Reading side which actually dominated possession against their Premier League opponents. McTominay is obviously a big talent, with former boss Jose Mourinho a big fan of his, but a lack of game time this season seems to have affected his progress. There are now other young talents such as Talith Chong coming through at Old Trafford, and McTominay will have to fight hard to keep his place in the squad in the coming weeks. Performances like that will not help his cause, and many fans have made their feelings very clear on Twitter.

McTominay just not good enough for United, and this is against a championship side. Doesn't press, doesn't pass forward, doesn't intercept. Send on Fellaini or Garner in the second half. #MUNREA
