Manchester City are expected to begin talks with winger Bernardo Silva shortly over a new contract due to Real Madrid being keen on signing him, according to the Daily Mirror.

The national newspaper claim that the Spanish giants have placed the Man City fan favourite on their wish list with them planning to raid the Premier League for talent in the summer and that due to this the English club may accelerate plans to get Silva to sign a new deal.

The Daily Mirror report that City are ready to look at improved terms for the £70m-rated winger as he has become a vital cog in Pep Guardiola’s side and the manager sees him as a long-term successor for David Silva.

OPINION

This is excellent news for Manchester City and its fans as everything should be done to keep Silva happy at the club. The 24-year-old has regularly dazzled Man City supporters this season and will no doubt continue to do so. In his 2018/19 campaign, Silva has been involved in 14 goals in his 28 outings and this shows the positive influence he is having on the team. It should be no surprise that his form has attracted the attention of Real Madrid but given that Man City are set to begin contracts talks with Silva, fans shouldn’t worry about the Spanish giants lurking. This is especially the case when you consider the Premier League don’t have sweat to get a deal done as the 24-year-old’s current deal still has three and a half years left on it. Also you feel that Man City won’t have any troubles getting Silva to pen a new contract as not only are they looking to improve his deal, he always has a smile on his face and looks happy at the club.
