OPINION
Liverpool were way below their best as they put two defeats behind them to get back to winning ways with a vital 1-0 Premier League win over Brighton at the Amex Stadium. A Mohamed Salah proved decisive in securing the points for the visitors, who were fluent only in patches but were rarely troubled by Chris Hughton’s side despite featuring midfielder Fabinho at centre-back. At no stage did it look a fragile lead, as Jurgen Klopp’s players were superior al over the pitch. Much of the criticism from supporters centred on the performances of the central midfielders, including Georginio Wijnaldum, with many fans claiming they were too negative in their distribution and moving the ball forward too slowly. The Holland international has been the pick of the bunch in that position this season. Certainly, he is the most trusted by Klopp, starting 19 Premier League matches out of 22 and all six Champions League fixtures. He wasn’t at his best today, but some of the criticism was a bit harsh. Jordan Henderson was far worse.

Wijnaldum and Henderson are like crabs trying to outdo each other with these sideways and backwards passes #LFC

Totally agree on Henderson. Wijnaldum can and should show more pal, particularly away from home.

Absolutely no balls from Henderson or Gini going forward. Sideways passing galore. Front 3 with dire service for 45 mins. #lfc

Henderson + Gini, recipe for disaster.

Wijnaldum is FRAUD

Henderson and Wijnaldum with dreadful performances. Stats will show 90% pass rate but its all negative or safe

Gini and Hendo need to improve massively 2nd half. Our buildup is far too slow. #lfc
