Liverpool could pull the plug on Rafael Camacho joining Sporting Lisbon on loan as Jurgen Klopp weighs up making a U-turn, according to Football Insider.

The reliable site claim Camacho has been the subject of multiple offers from Sporting and other clubs as they look to take the attacking midfielder for the rest of the season.

Football Insider report Klopp was set to hold talks on Wednesday with Camacho’s representatives amid the growing possibility that his expected move to his Portugal homeland will now collapse.

Good move for Liverpool?

Only if Camacho is in genuine contention to play in the second half of the season. The 18-year-old made his senior debut at right-back in Monday’s FA Cup defeat to Wolves and had a mixed game, with his positioning occasionally suspect as he frequently got caught too high up the flank. That is perhaps unsurprising, given that he has been playing as an attacking player for the Under-23s this season. The best thing for Liverpool is that Camacho is in an environment where he is developing, whether that is at Anfield or a loan club back in his homeland. The Lisbon-born youngster has a big admirer in Klopp, and must respect the manager’s decision, even if he is aching for regular senior football.
