OPINION
Helder Costa was once widely regarded as Wolves’ prize asset, the player seemingly destined for a top-six Premier League club. How far away those appraisals seemed in the first half of Saturday’s FA Cup fourth-round clash at Shrewsbury Town. The Midlands’ giants near neighbours made life difficult for the big spenders, as Sam Ricketts’ game plan worked a treat in an opening period that ended goalless. Costa has been a regular starter for much of the campaign but has been benched for the last two league matches, and his performance in Shropshire showed just why Nuno Espirito Santo has lost the faith. The Portugal international struggled to make an impression, his ball retention was poor and he looked devoid of confidence and impetus. Things could only get better for the winger going into a second period that promised to be a real test of the mettle of the Premier League outfit.

Imagine once upon a time we were resigned to losing Helder Costa because he was better than us and many thought he'd go to a top 6 team

Independent thinking, with no commentator trying to influence me, I’m saying Costa knew he’d ballsed up with the heavy touch so threw himself down.

Struggling to see what Adama is bringing to this game. Him & Costa off for me, both been ineffective so far. #WWFC
