Ray Parlour claimed Tottenham fans would likely be having a party after leaning that attacker Heung-Min Son will soon be heading back to the club after South Korea suffered a shock exit in the Asian Cup.

The former Arsenal player heaped praise on the 26-year-old, claiming he was perfect for the club, upon leaning that the winger would soon be available for Mauricio Pochettino to choose from and shared his return was a massive boost for Spurs.

Parlour added that he thought Daniel Levy and Pochettino probably had plans to strengthen the club’s attacking options in the transfer market but with Son on the way back, there wasn’t as much as a rush to act.

“He’s perfect for Spurs as they were in a situation with Llorente where he hadn’t played much football as it so difficult to get the pace and he probably needed four or five games to get the pace,” said Parlour on Sky Sports’ The Debate (Friday January 25th, 22:33).

“But now Son will come straight back in, he has done it before when Harry Kane was injured and he played as a striker, they’ve got options now because Moura can play up there and could becoming deep and running up there.

“I’m sure the Tottenham fans would have a party tonight knowing we’ve got one of ours players, no one expected Qatar to beat them and were probably expecting him to be away a bit longer.

“It’s a massive boost, Daniel Levy and Pochettino probably had plans to strengthen the squad but they’ve got a great player coming back now and he can fit straight into that centre-forward position with Harry Kane being out.”

OPINION

Parlour is clearly blown away by Son’s ability as to describe him as perfect for Spurs is a huge compliment, it’s also one that’s hard to argue with. The 26-year-old has shone bright for Spurs this season, scoring 12 while assisting nine in his 28 outings, and he’s flexible when it comes to his position makes him very useful. Son looks just as comfortable playing as a No.9 as he is on the left-flank and that makes him a very valuable asset to the club particularly when injury strike. Whether Parlour is just full of praise currently as he knows Spurs need Son more than ever due to Harry Kane being injured is debatable, but it seems likely he’d make similar remarks about the winger whether there was an injury crisis or not. The only worry Parlour hasn’t refereed to as he just thinks Spurs fan will be in party mode over Son’s return, is what condition the attacker is returning in. Worryingly for the London club Son recently admitted that he was “physically empty”, as transcribed by Sky Sports, while away with his nation at the Asian Cup, and that doesn’t sound promising at all.
