Crystal Palace are ready to make a “shock” move to re-sign Everton winger Yannick Bolasie to boost their hopes of avoiding relegation, according to Football Insider.

The reliable site claim the London-based Premier League outfit want Bolasie to solve their need for attacking reinforcements this month after he quit his season-long loan at Aston Villa on Monday.

Football Insider report Bolasie, 29, is set to head out of Goodison Park once again before the transfer window shuts on 31 January as he is “unlikely” to break into Marco Silva’s side.

Good move for Palace?

It depends upon whether Bolasie can rediscover the heights he hit during his first spell at Selhurst Park, when he was capable of destroying even the best defences with his extreme pace and trickery. The winger has struggled since suffering a serious knee injury, one of the reasons his Everton career has never really got going. It should be a concern for Palace and other interested clubs that Bolasie failed to nail down a regular starting role at Championship outfit Villa. Aged 29, is he ever again going to be able to be the potent matchwinner Everton thought they had signed when paying Palace £25million three summers ago?

Likely to happen?

If it is a loan deal, then that is far more likely to be agreed before the January cut-off. A permanent transfer would be harder to negotiate at this point of the window, especially if Everton are demanding a £10million-plus figure. Whatever way it works, it can only help Palace that Everton are willing to let Bolasie leave.
