West Brom are in the hunt to sign “highly-rated” Charlton centre-forward Karlan Grant, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper claimed in their live transfer blog on Tuesday [10:11pm] that Huddersfield and Middlesbrough are also interested in signing the 21-year-old.

It is understood that Grant’s deal at The Valley expires at the end of the season and he could be on the move for a fee of £2million.

Good move for West Brom?

It definitely wouldn’t hurt for Darren Moore to sign a new striker before the transfer window slams shut next week.

Grant may still be quite young, but he has been in great form for Charlton this season, scoring 14 goals and supplying five assists in 28 appearances across all competitions for the League One side.

£2million could be quite a bargain for a young English striker, so Moore would definitely be wise to have a go at signing him.

Jay Rodriguez and Dwight Gayle are scoring goals for fun this season, but Grant could be a very good back-up option for them two and allow Moore to potentially move on Hal Robson-Kanu.

Likely to happen?

Grant seems to be attracting a lot of attention with Middlesbrough and Huddersfield also eyeing him up.

However if you had to choose between the three clubs linked with him from the Daily Mail, he’d have to go for West Brom, who are scoring goals for fun in the Championship this season.

As Albion fans will know, no striker worth his salt will want to be managed by Tony Pulis and Huddersfield are in a perilous position in the Premier League.

Grant would definitely prefer the Baggies, but the chances of Moore being allowed the cash to sign him are low.
