Everton desperately need to find some kind of creativity from somewhere, and they might have the answer right in front of them in Nigerian forward Henry Onyekuru.

The 21-year-old has been in fine form on loan from the Toffees at Galatasaray, and hit his first ever career hat-trick in the demolition of fellow Super Lig side MKE Ankaragücü on Saturday evening.

Prior to that match, he had found the net six times in 16 league matches for the Turkish outfit, and looks to be growing into a real threat with his nine goals this season.

The Toffees, by contrast, slipped to a 2-1 defeat to Southampton on Saturday afternoon, with their only goal coming as a consolation from Gylfi Sigurdsson.

The Blues need more up front, that much is obvious. Richarlison is not a natural centre forward, and Cenk Tosun doesn’t look up to leading the line. Dominic Calvert-Lewin looks promising but is not the finished article just yet.

Admittedly, Onyekuru is more at home in a wide berth, and Bernard and Ademola Lookman continue to impress on the flanks, but Onyekuru has been so good for Galatasaray this season, and he possesses such a natural talent for finishing, that he must be worth a punt.

It seems unlikely that Marco Silva will be given money to spend this transfer window, and Onyekuru could be a cut price solution to his striking woes – if they can sort out his work permit issues in England.

If they can, then bringing him back to Goodison is an absolute must.
