Everton agree purchase clause in Niasse deal

|

Everton have agreed to include an option to buy clause in the loan contract of Oumar Niasse as the striker edges closer to a temporary exit from Goodison Park, according to reliable journalist Paul Joyce.

The Times reporter claims on his personal Twitter account that a permanent exit is on the cards for the Senegal international thanks to the purchase agreement, after Sky Sports claimed that the Bluebirds were closing in on a loan move to help bolster their forward line this month.

Niasse has been a fringe figure under Marco Silva this season and is set to join a Cardiff side who have scored just 19 goals this season – the third least in the division.

Opinion

No one will be surprised that Everton have been willing to include a purchase clause in the loan contract of Niasse, for his future at Goodison Park looked as good as dead in the lead up to 2019. The question that needs to be asked is just how much have Cardiff agreed to spend on his capture? Could Everton risk losing out on some transfer funds if he dazzles in the Premier League between now and the end of the season? Absolutely, for a fine run of form will add millions to his value and have the Bluebirds activating the clause as soon as possible. However, a poor run of form could well see the Welsh side choose not to take him permanently and leave Everton stuck with trying to offload him once again. It is a risky move but obviously one the Toffees hope will convince Cardiff to pay up in the summer, rather than let him go elsewhere. Of course he needs to find some form of his own if he is to be a success.
