Cardiff have made contact over signing Everton forward Oumar Niasse after their £10m+deal for Nantes forward Emiliano Sala stalled, according to TEAMtalk.

The football outlet claim that the Bluebirds are desperately searching for ways to bolster Neil Warnock’s attacking options and are hoping to beat Crystal Palace to the services of the Toffees forward.

TEAMtalk report that while Toffees boss Marco Silva is a fan of Niasse and would be happy for him to stay, he is willing to let the player go out on loan to get the regular playing time he seeks.

Good move for Everton?

Yes.

Niasse, who earns £55,000-a-week (Source: Spotrac), has hardly got a kick this season as he has managed to feature only five times in the Premier League, so sealing a temporary exit for him makes sense by all accounts.

The 28-year-old forward could help Cardiff stay in the Premier League and prove to Silva that he is a player worth keeping around at Goodison Park next season.

However given that Niasse can barely feature as it is and the Toffees aren’t exactly prolific in front of goal, perhaps the best scenario from him potentially heading out on loan to someone like Cardiff is that his value could rise and the club could cash in on him in the summer.

Likely to happen?

TEAMtalk report that Warnock’s £10m+ pursuit of Sala has hit a wall so it’s realistic that Cardiff are set to switch gears and go after someone else, and Niasse being targeted makes sense.

With the 28-year-old out of the first-team picture at the Toffees as it stands, it does suggest that it might be easy convincing both the club and player to agree terms with the Bluebirds.

Yet it’s worth noting that based on this report Cardiff have only just made their first approach for Niasse, which suggests this potential deal is in the early stages and it’s no guarantee it will go anywhere.
