OPINION

Everton fans are no doubt forming an uproar after they lost 3-2 to Millwall on Saturday, and despite the majority of the team being rather poor, there is one player who is showing tonnes of promise.

That player is young striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who had a relatively good game compared to the rest of his lacklustre teammates.

Him and Richarlison have been taking it turns essentially to play up front for the Toffees, a position which the supporters know that the Brazilian does not operate best in.

If this match taught us anything, it is that Calvert-Lewin has the potential to save the club a mountain of pennies by being the star performer in the attack – in other words, he has the ability to make himself a club hero if he continues to remain consistent as a forward.

The 21-year-old did not receive the service required for him to work at his full potential on Saturday, so it was rather hard to judge whether he was up to the job properly – but other than that, he was the team’s shining light.

However, the young ace displayed signs of a fantastic work rate, and battled for every ball and tackle that was made available, and he even forced Millwall into making a few errors at the back.

This goes to show that Calvert-Lewin is not just a one-trick pony with his goals, it demonstrates his versatility and willingness to produces results for the team.

This is exactly the type of player that Everton need in their first team on a regular basis, so Calvert-Lewin must continue staking his claim with his assured performances.

If he does, then the young dazzler will establish himself into a new club hero, as well as the striker that the club have been crying out for.

All his teammates need to do now is help him out by providing the service he needs to get scoring.
