Paris Saint-Germain have tabled a £22million (€25million) bid for Everton midfielder Idrissa Gana Gueye and are around £8.7million off the Toffees’ valuation, according to L’Equipe.

The reputable French publication claim on their website that the Ligue 1 giants are keen on securing the £45,000-a-week (source: Spotrac) central enforcer’s signing and an offer was tabled on Monday but that is was some way off the Premier League side’s asking price for the 29-year-old.

It is stated that Everton have placed a price of £30.7million (€35million) on their star man’s head, with the player himself said to be keen and PSG confident they can seal a deal with the Goodison Park outfit over the coming days.

Opinion

If Gueye really wants to leave then Everton should not stand in his way, but should absolutely be demanding every single penny possible from PSG. The central star is one of the most efficient ball winning midfielders in the Premier League and losing him will be a real blow to the Toffees, hence why they need some serious cash in their pocket to try and fill the gap he will leave in the starting XI. To be fair, at 29-years-old, anything around the £25million mark is good business and so you can imagine Everton would be willing to meet PSG somewhere in the middle of the current bid on the table and their asking price for Gueye. That money could be reinvested in a number of areas in the first team squad and while Gueye would be a bitter loss to the side, he is by no means an irreplaceable talent. Marco Silva and his transfer team will have a shortlist of players on standby and expect a move to be launched quickly as and when Gueye does leave Goodison Park.
