Leeds suffered yet another fitness blow on Monday evening, when centre-back Gaetano Berardi limped out of the Under-23s game against Southampton on his comeback.

He’s set for scans this afternoon to assess the extent of the injury, but he’s unlikely to be fit for the game against Rotherham on Saturday.

However, there was some good news, as reported by YEP journalist Phil Hay.

After a fan asked him why Izzy Brown “only played 45 minutes” in the Under-23s game, Hay replied saying, “He’s fine. Good chance of him being involved at Rotherham.”

Hay made the claim on his personal Twitter account on Tuesday morning and the news will have be getting all Leeds fans very excited.

And for good reason. Izzy Brown hasn’t actually played for Leeds yet, despite joining from Chelsea in the summer.

He broke down in his previous comeback from injury, but it now looks like he could make his debut against Rotherham on Saturday, and his arrival in white could be just the boost Leeds need after losing three of the last four league games.

They’re still top of the Championship, with other results going their way, but they’re in desperate need of a big win and Brown could help propel them to it.

Able to play as a secondary striker or on either flank, Brown will literally be like a new signing for Leeds.

He’s looked extremely sharp in his last Under-23s games and it sounds like he’s finally going to get to strut his stuff for the senior team on Saturday.
