Everton are keen on signing Paris St-Germain defender Thomas Meunier, according to Telefoot.

The French outlet claim that the idea of a swap deal involving the 6ft 3in tall right-back (Source: Transfermarket) and Toffees midfielder Idrissa Gueye is a possibility, but PSG would want some money in addition to the 29-year-old.

Telefoot claim that the next few hours of the window are set to be hectic for PSG as there are several players they are attempting to sign.

Good move for Everton?

Yes if they are resigned to losing Gueye.

The defensive-minded midfielder, who earns £45,000-a-week (Source: Spotrac), is an important player to the Toffees and really the Premier League club shouldn’t want to part company with him.

However the links to PSG have continued throughout the current window and they may just have to give up the fight and allow PSG to purchase his services.

Yet even they are to do that then the Toffees want to get the best deal possible and getting Meunier in return, even if they have to sweeten the deal with some funds, would do that.

The 27-year-old, who has 36 caps for Belgium, is an experienced right-back who could strengthen Marco Silva’s defence.

Likely to happen?

There’s a chance but PSG seem like they have a lot to do before the January transfer window shuts.

They may prioritise signing other players ahead of Gueye and this could see them run out of time to get a deal done with the Toffees for the midfielder, especially if it’s going to be complicated process that involves Meunier arriving at Goodison Park as well.

If a swap deal is set to be on the cards then both clubs will need to make progress sooner rather than later, so it will shortly become clear how likely this deal is to happen.
