Chelsea attacker Kasey Palmer is travelling to Bristol City later today for a medical ahead of a loan move for the rest of the season, according to Sky Sports.

Their live transfer blog (8.57am) claims that he was at Blackburn on a season-long loan but has only started 10 out of their 26 games this season.

And it looks like they are set to terminate that loan deal in favour of a move to Bristol City.

The 22-year-old has had previous loan spells with Huddersfield and Derby County.

OPINION

Palmer is yet another promising Chelsea player who’s come up through the youth ranks and having to find his football elsewhere. He’s 22-years-old now, so no spring chicken, and he’s never made a senior appearance for Chelsea. That’s looking really unlikely now and surely a permanent move would be better for his career? He’s under contract at Chelsea until 2021 but he’s only made the senior bench twice, back in 2016. There are so many young players better than him that can’t get near the first-team, that it would seem best to call time on his career at Stamford Bridge. That he couldn’t get a regular game for Blackburn doesn’t bode well, but he did win promotion to the Premier League with Huddersfield, and a move to a Championship club could be the best for him going forward. He’ll have a chance to prove himself at Bristol City, where he’s presumably been offered more regular game time.
