Arsenal fans are increasingly desperate for their club to make reinforcements before the January transfer cut-off, and no doubt Unai Emery will be, too, following Friday’s FA Cup exit. News emerged today (Saturday) that Gooners could soon be getting some good news before the 31st. BBC Sport correspondent David Ornstein reported on his personal Twitter account that the north Londoners have made an approach to sign Inter Milan winger Ivan Perisic. He explained the Londoners are working on a loan with a £35million option to buy. This sent many Arsenal fans into meltdown, partly no doubt a consequence of the fact that it has come out of the blue from a very reliable source. Perisic is a fine player who is proven at international and elite club level, and he would be a mighty useful addition to a Gunners squad crying out for more cutting edge. But, he turns 30 at the end of next week and this is the kind of short-term deal Arsenal should avoid. Arsenal need a centre-back of note, not another winger.
