Newcastle United haven’t signed any players this month despite Rafa Benitez being in dire need of new additions, so when Monaco and Belgium playmaker Youri Tielemans gets linked with a move to St James’ Park, you can understand why some fans would be sceptical. It seems as though the Toon Army are treating this as they would with many other transfer stories. According to HLN journalist Kristof Terruer, the Magpies have contacted Monaco about signing Tielemans, 21, before the transfer window slams shut on Thursday. While it is obvious that he would be a quality signing for United, it’s a signing that will never happen. Tielemans would cost way too much money for Newcastle, even if they were able to negotiate a loan deal with the Ligue 1 strugglers and he would surely be able to join a club much higher in the Premier League due to his immense potential. Newcastle fans can dream about it, but that’s about all they can do. There’s no way that he is heading to the North-East this week.
