Newcastle United are unlikely to be able to sign Leeds United forward Kemar Roofe in January, but the Premier League club can test Andrea Radrizzani’s resolve with a big bid, according to the Chronicle.

The newspaper claims that Roofe, 25, has emerged as a shock target for the Magpies this month.

It is understood that even though the fact that Radrizzani’s streaming service Eleven Sports is struggling to take off in the UK will not impact affect Leeds, a big enough offer will be enough to force the Yorkshire club into making a decision.

Good move for Leeds?

There is no way that Leeds should even entertain the idea of cashing in on Roofe, even if there was a big offer tabled for him.

The former West Brom attacker has been in lethal form this season, scoring 13 goals in 18 Championship appearances for the promotion contenders.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side will struggle to replace Roofe’s goals in January, so there is no reason as to why this should be thought of, even if Radrizzani’s Eleven Sports is failing in the UK.

Likely to happen?

Eleven Sports’ failure is not going to impact the way that Leeds do their business in the January transfer market.

Sure, it’s a blow for Radrizzani, but he knows that he can bounce back from that hit by earning promotion to the Premier League, and to do that he needs Roofe.
