Bournemouth defender Tyrone Mings is heading to Aston Villa to undergo a medical with the Championship club, according to the Mirror.

The newspaper claimed via their live transfer blog on Thursday [07:13am] that Mings, 25, is edging closer to joining the West Midlands club on deadline day.

The Daily Mail reported on their live transfer blog on Wednesday [11:55am] that the Cherries want a £1million loan fee for the former Ipswich defender.

The 6ft 5 (transfermarkt) colossus has only made seven appearances in all competitions for Bournemouth this season.

Good move for Aston Villa?

Dean Smith inherited a severely imbalanced squad when he took charge of the club from Steve Bruce, but he has done a good job of sorting out that issue this month by beefing up his defensive options.

Mings should definitely be a quality addition for the Villains as they aim to launch a late bid for promotion in the second-half of the campaign.

One of the best things about him is that he can play at left-back as well as centre-back and currently Neil Taylor is the only natural left-back at the club.

Mings will add vital strength in depth and could even walk straight into Smith’s starting line-up.

Likely to happen?

With Mings heading to the Midlands to undergo a medical, it seems safe to say that this is one deal that Aston Villa can be expected to wrap up on deadline day.

He is out of favour at the Vitality and he will surely know that he is going to get a lot more game-time with the Villains.

This one should be completed fairly soon.
