COMMENTARY
When Aston Villa got rid of Steve Bruce as manager there would have been plenty of supporters excited at the prospect of who would take his place. There were a number of names in the mix but by far the most notable was Arsenal and Premier League legend Thierry Henry, who had been working as a coach with Belgium. The Daily Mail even went as far to say he would be handed the reigns but as it turned out it was Dean Smith who took charge at Villa Park, with Henry returning to his homeland to take on the challenge at AS Monaco. To say things have not worked out for the Frenchman would be quite the understatement, with the principality-based side sitting in the relegation of Ligue 1 and as revealed on the club’s official website, Henry has now been suspended of his duties. It is no surprise to see many of the Villa faithful, who will still be feeling quite frustrated their side sit 13th in the Championship, saying that they dodged a bullet by missing out on Henry. As for the fan asking what the phrase would be in French, a loose translation would be: “Esquivé une balle.” Time to turn their attentions back to their own side’s struggles.
