Tottenham were plunged into crisis this week after star striker Harry Kane was injured during their Premier League game against Man United.

Spurs fans will be hoping for a new signing but, according to Sky Sports journalist Jim White, they are also looking closer to home for the solution.

Talking on talkSPORT on Wednesday morning (The Jim White show, 10am), White claimed that while Tottenham were considering all transfer options, including loan deals, they are also considering promoting academy prospect Troy Parrott.

“Tottenham are looking at all options and that includes an academy prospect. They are considering the prospect of using Troy Parrott, which would be a sensational move for the youngster.”

16-year-old Parrott has been impressing for the Tottenham youth side but hasn’t made an appearance for Mauricio Pochettini’s first-team yet.

OPINION

This would be a massive move but, certainly in the short-term, what have Tottenham got to lose? They’re unlikely to bring anyone in in time for Sunday’s game against Fulham, and that will probably mean Fernando Llorente starting, with Lucas Moura still a major doubt. Parrott has travelled with Tottenham’s first-team squad before, for the away game against Leicester, and that shows how highly Pochettino rates him. Putting him on the bench and giving him a shot in the second-half against Fulham, hopefully with the game already won, would seem like a sensible move. Yes, he’s only 16 but needs must for Tottenham at the moment. He’s proved he’s ready and in good form with a man-of-the-match display for the Tottenham Under-18 side at the weekend. He scored two and added an assist in the 4-1 win over Brighton. That makes in 10 goals in nine games so far for the Under-18s this season. Parrott has also featured regularly for the Under-23s.
