Everton have been handed a potential boost in their hunt to sign Eder Militao as the Porto defender wants to sign for a club in the Premier League, according to UOL.

The Brazilian news outlet claims that Real Madrid also want to sign the 20-year-old and even held a meeting about a potential deal, but the player has his heart set on moving to England.

It is understood that Manchester United and Liverpool are also interested in Militao, who has a release clause worth £44.6million in his deal at Porto.

UOL adds that Porto want to increase his release clause and have failed in their first attempt to do so.

Good move for Everton?

Although Marco Silva has built up his defensive forces at Goodison Park, Militao would still be a class signing.

The 20-year-old has taken to European football like a duck to water since joining Porto from Sao Paulo in the summer, impressing both domestic football and in the Champions League.

Militao has the potential to be one of the best centre-backs in Europe, so the Toffees really need to push the boat out and try and win the race for his signature now it’s been reported he want to move to England.

Likely to happen?

It would take a massive fee for Everton to sign Militao if Porto want to bump up his release clause even more as that suggests that they would not be happy if they lost the defender for £44.6million.

Man United and Liverpool’s interest in signing the ex-Sao Paulo centre-back is surely a concern for Everton, so the chances of them winning this race are quite low.
