Leeds United have set their sights on two more signings after all but completing the capture of a new goalkeeper, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.

The newspaper broke the news on Friday night that the Championship leaders are closing in on the permanent capture of Real Madrid shot-stopper Kiko Casilla.

The YEP report that United will now turn their attention to landing “a new winger and a new attacking midfielder, two positions which the club identified for strengthening before the window opened”.

Finally, some transfer window action at Elland Road after a slow start to January marked by a raft of Leeds player exits led by the headline departure of Lewis Baker, which Marcelo Bielsa did not want. Casilla is 32 and will bring experience and pedigree to the promotion hopefuls after spending his entire career in Spain, which began at Real Madrid and where he has spent the last four years after returning in the summer of 2015. The former Spain international has plenty of top-level experience and looks a real coup. He should be worth the wait and instantly slot into the team to take the heat off up-and-down Bailey Peacock-Farrell. It is exciting for Leeds fans that two more acquisitions could join highly-rated Casilla before 31 January. The YEP are very well connected, notably brilliant correspondent Phil Hay, and his claim of possibly three captures in the next three weeks in total is music to the ears of fans following the exits of Baker, Samuel Saiz and Jamal Blackman in recent times.
