West Brom are trying to wrap up a stunning late-window triple swoop as they close in on the loan capture of Jacob Murphy, according to the Daily Telegraph.

The newspaper claim the Baggies are set to finalise the temporary signing of the Newcastle United winger when he undergoes a medical “early next week” after playing for his parent club in the FA Cup this weekend.

The Telegraph report West Brom are also keen to sign a centre-back and a midfielder, and are working on deals to land Bournemouth’s Tyrone Mings and Fulham’s Kevin McDonald.

The signs are increasingly clear that West Brom are set to be one of the busiest clubs in the top two divisions in the final week of the transfer window. Following the return to Leicester City of Harvey Barnes and the imminent exit of Bakary Sako, who is set to re-sign for Crystal Palace, Darren Moore is short of a creative force from out wide. Murphy should provide that, if, as now seems likely, he joins from Premier League outfit Newcastle before the 31 January cut-off. Proven in the Championship following an excellent campaign at Norwich City two seasons ago, the 23-year-old can provide the assists and goals that Barnes would have done once he gets his feet under the table. Mings is another stellar talent, who has the potential to be a dominant and authoritative defender at Championship level after suffering a number of serious injuries. McDonald was excellent for Fulham in their promotion-winning campaign and would add midfield steel and nous.
